Good Points: The music, absolutely top notch. The DJ's know their stuff and keep a good selection going. The free bands, not only is it free, but they are quality bands that you hear on the radio all day around Manchester, it's a real ggod vibe.
Bad Points: Miserable barmaids on a Friday, though this is counter acted by the nice girls on a Saturday.
Review: At last, somewhere that plays and cares for real music in Tameside. For years I've had to treck to town to catch all the latest bands, but now, they're right on my doorstep. Though the venue may seem small, when i have spoken to the bands afterwards they all rave about Viva. With regards to the DJ's, well they seem to have every single record that is stored in my head, they play a top selection of Indie classics, current Indie, sixties, and some right surprises inbetween. If they don't have what you ask for, your guaranteed that they have it the following night, mint.
Everybody seems to have a great time, and I even hear some ladies scream when certain songs come on, that is good proof to me.................

Good Points: This venue is Awesome. We played 2 gigs there, and will probably play another gig later on this year.
They serve Red Stripe- IN A CAN- which is awesome. The bands that play every Friday are quality. And it's free to see them, which is a rarity! It's a very relaxed atmosphere!
Bad Points: Maybe the high chairs at the upstairs venue. They are a bit low in comparison to the table.
Review: After playing a gig to a PACKED Viva, we had a mint night. We also stop here on Saturday nights for a drink, which is really good. I fell off the high chairs though, but I was wasted. I recommend this Venue to everyone.

Good Points: Relaxed atmosphere, fantastic music-probably THE best in Stalybridge.Late liscence.
Bad Points: Not come accross any yet.
Review: When stumbling home one night from the train station, trying my best to avoid the usual crowds of numpty's, I happened to hear some REAL music blaring out of the old sport shop-now VIVA. I have been going here now every Friday / Saturday. They have a decent band on downstairs every Friday, and it's free which is appealing. There have been some really good bands, one's that have stood out have been The Words, Studio Monkeys, The Whyers, Virtuoso, all of whom are making the right noises on the Manchester music scene. The singer of Studio Monkeys and the bassist of The Whyers DJ on Friday's, and they play everything from Indie / Alternative / rare 60's garage / northern soul / Punk....I could go on. They are very knowledgable, and obviously love music.
Viva is getting busier every week, and it seems to be where the 'In Crowd' go.............fantastic 10/10

Good Points: Cheap drink / Live Bnads / Indie Music / Late Bar / Free Entry / relaxed door policy. Good DJ's, friendly staff.
Bad Points: Has to close at 2am.
Review: Friday nights. At long last a venue in Stalybridge that not only plays indie music/ Northern Soul / and 60's/70's....But also have a live band on downstairs. Not only are the bands excellent, it is totally free! Some big names on the current Manchester scene have played there recently including The Whyers / Studio Monkeys / Virtuoso / Jonny Brown Shoes The Words...you would have to pay at least £5 to see these bands in Manchester.
